When writing blog’s I try to stay away from any rants that I want to go on because I believe that some of my message or help might get lost with the rant but I believe that for once I may have to rant about this topic, the topic in question is S&B day and for those unaware of what this is I will take some time to talk about it and explain what I have wrong with it.

S&B day is widely known as Steak and Blowjob Day and this is where women give there other halves a Steak for Dinner and a Blowjob for dessert. This day was created by a fucking idiot called Tom Birdsey who used all forms of multimedia to get his message out that men should be given something back for all their hard work for Valentine’s Day (I should make the point that if you felling like that then why are you dating in the first place?).

If you haven’t already guessed I dislike everything about this on multiply levels and below are my reason and explanations.

1. It demeans women

The reason that I say this is because of the following quote that can be found on the Facebook page “Men work extremely hard to satisfy their lovers on Valentine’s Day”. To me this implies that woman should pay men back for everything they have done for them on Valentine’s Day. To me this is a narrow-minded and doesn’t take into account the bigger picture which leads me into the following point.

2. You shouldn’t be showing your love for one another once a year

As I have said multiply times when I have spoken about relationships in past blog, I have said that if you are with someone then you should be showing one another that you love one another even if that is by saying that you love them, complementing them in the way they look and what you like about them, doing something that the other is not expecting or just by sleeping with one another. And this is where I ask the question to Tom Birdsey (the idiot that created the whole thing), have you ever taken the time to look at your past relationships and asked yourself have you done what I have outlines above or has your partner done something similar to you?

3. Have you taken a moment to see what your other half did for you on Valentine’s Day?

Now a lot of place will make out that Valentine’s Day is all about the man doing something for the woman but if you look around and listen to people around you, you will find out that it is not that black and white anymore. Yes men do treat their other half to something on Valentine’s Day but at the same time woman have also done something for the men in their life too. Examples of this have been women going out buying new outfit and lingerie for that evening to spice thing up or getting them something in return. For me I believe that Tom Birdsey didn’t take any of these on board when creating his Steak and a Blowjob Day because to me I get the impression that he believes that women should be giving this to him anyway.

4. And there is another way to show your love other than this day.

And lastly we come to what I would call the crown jewel of this all, if Tom Birdsey had done any research before he went to the media and asked for the world to follow him in this fucking demeaning day he would have seen that there are countries around the world that follow up Valentine’s Day with another day which is twenty eight days later on March the 14^th. A good example of this is over in Japan where they have White Day, where Men that have received gift on Valentine’s Day return the favour on March 14^th.

If you haven’t already guessed it, I believe that this whole Steak and a Blowjob Day should be forgotten about completely and my reasons have been listed above but at the same time those that agree with this day need to really look at what they are doing in their relationship to beginning with. If you really want to do something after Valentine’s Day then all I can suggest is that you follow up that day with something that you have planned for both of you or even go as far as doing everything that I have listed in point 2.

Valentine’s Day

Now as you can guess today is Valentine’s day and like everyone else that has someone special in their lives I will be spending today with my other half but before I do, I thought that I would spend some time talking to you about what Valentine’s day is and what it means to everyone.

First of all I should point out that Valentine’s Day comes from very early Christian saint called Valentinus, who would married off solider to lovers that they were forbidden to be with and because of this he was imprisoned for his actions, it was also believed that when Valentinus passed away he had wrote down the words “from your Valentine”. It wasn’t until the 15^th century that Valentine’s Day became known as a day of love around the world and that the idea of giving cards and gifts wasn’t introduced until the 19^th century.

As you can see the meaning of today has always been about love and that all time has done is given us away in which we can express it more clearly to one another.

For me Valentine’s Day has become something of a hallmark day in which card companies and allsorts find away to hike up prices to increase their bottom line and that the media makes out that if you want a happy relationship you need to spend a lot of money. As I said in my last post I don’t have a problem with the day but I do have a problem with money side of it.

Love does not have to cost a fortune, just look at the way in which the Japanese celebrate today, they believe that the 14^th February is where all the woman in Japan give their male lovers or the person that doesn’t know they like them chocolates and that the males get to repay this on the 14^th of March by giving them a gift that isn’t chocolate.

The only problem that I do have with this is that I am not a massive fan of chocolate but on the plus it keeps cost low and it also gives you more time to think about what you can get that person in return, (that is if you want to but as this is Japan and as there people are very proud you would still return the good gesture in your own way).

Sometimes the best part about Valentine’s Day is receiving a gift or a card from someone that hasn’t left their name or you didn’t know like you in that way. Too me this can be very romantic because if you are unsure to begin with you can sit from afar and see what happens because if they are interest then you can make a move and if they are not you can just let it go.

But there is always one thing that companies forget to tell you and that is love is not to be shown on just this one day, we should all take some time out from our busy lives and make time to show the ones we love or like that we want to be with them.

For me I am now going to get everything ready for a nice romantic night in with the other half, so until next time.

Christmas Spirit

Last weekend was my works Christmas Party and for the record I would like to point out that the company I work for like to have their Christmas Party on the last weekend in November or the first weekend in December. The other part that I would like to mention is that I to didn’t go to this year’s Party for my own reason which is all I am going to say on the matter.

The first thing that I would like to throw out there is that I do like a good old Christmas Party for two reason, one being that you get to spend a night with the company you are working with eating food and talking to those that you don’t normally get a chance to and second the night always turns out to be good.

Now you might all be wondering what is the catch is and you would be correct but I should point out that this is not aimed at everyone but what I have seen for my owns company’s Christmas Party. I am fully aware that you are going to say that how can I talk about something that I wasn’t at and the answer to that question would be pictures post on a lovely little website called Facebook.

Facebook is a lovely little website where everyone wants to be your friend and they send you friend request where you then except it and then read them (if you are like me) once a day, finding out how bored someone is or posting pictures to try and justify a point. (There I have gone again going off topic so let’s get back on topic shall we.)

So I never went to my company’s Christmas Party but from what I seen from the picture it showed that everyone was at least having a good time and that they were enjoying themselves but for some reason something didn’t look right in some of them. It wasn’t till later that I then realised that there were people at this Christmas Party wearing Jeans.

My question is this to everyone, how did you get the idea that wearing a pair of jeans to a Christmas party was the right decision? I have spend a few days trying understand the logic behind this and I just can’t find one, I could have over looked the whole thing if they were wearing smart trousers and a smart shirt without a tie but the jeans.

Yes I am fully aware that UK fashion has changed a lot and that is a topic for another time but there are standards that should be followed especially for events like these.

Now as I said earlier in the blog I do like Christmas Parties and I have always had fun at them and on some occasions they have been interesting and that I would always encouraged those that think about going to them to go because you have no idea what could happen. Plus I find them to be the gate way into the festive season because once you have been to one you seem to be more the mood for Christmas than if you haven’t been to one but on the flip side if you have it too earlier you can lose the magic of Christmas before you even get close to it.

On a final note how many times a year do you get to the chance to dress to impress or to have something happen that stays with everyone for years to come. For those that have or haven’t had your Christmas Parties yet, I do hope that you have enjoyed or will enjoy them.
