Can’t believe it has changed so much

For those that have been following or reading my blog’s on a weekly basic I would like to apologise for the lack of blog’s that I created last month, I original had five blog’s planed for the month but in the end I was only able to create three of which one of them was crap in my opinion. So to start this week’s blog I am going to give you a bit of a history lesson which will lead up to my views on how this May’s London Comic Con went for me.

I have been going to the London Comic Con since all the way back in 2004 when I first discovered this exhibition with a friend of mine, back then exhibition was completely different to how it is today due to the fact that back then it mainly stuck to film, television and comic book and because of this the show didn’t really get any bigger. If anything the number of people that where attending the show was starting to decreasing up until 2005 when the show began to include parts of Japanese culture like Anime and Manga and each year since this inclusion the show has gotten bigger and better.

With the show getting bigger and better the number of people that were attending the show was also going up and by the last time that I went which was back in 2010 you could see that this show was something that people wanted to go to.

Now after being away from the exhibition for over three years I was surprised to see how much the exhibition had increased in size, a good example of this would be back in 2010 there was at least a handful of illustrators but this year there was some were in the region of about forty, which just goes to show how much bigger the exhibition has become over the past three years.

There were two things that caught me off guard while I was at this year’s exhibition and one of those was just how busy the show had gotten, a good example of this would be the fact that there were places in the show room on the Saturday were we were packed in like sardines. I am not saying this is a bad think at all it because if anything it just showed how many more people were interested in the show than the last time I was here.

The other part that caught me off guard was now much the Anime and Manga scene had changed over the last three years. When I look back at 2010 we had not long lost ADV films but we still had Beez Entertainment along with Revelations films and the two biggest Anime distributors in the UK, Manga entertainment and MVM. It wasn’t until I got the exhibition and had spend the best part of Saturday trying to find where Beez Entrainment and Revelations films had gone. When I couldn’t find them and after I had gone home that night I began to do a bit of research to find out what had happened to them. It wasn’t long until I discovered that both companies had ever gone under or had handed their licensers over to another company.

If this weekend had taught me anything, it was the fact how much a hobby like this can change so much when you haven’t been following it for some time.

If there was one question that needed to be answered after this year’s May’s MCM London Comic Con it would be did I enjoy myself at the exhibition? The answer to that question is yes I did and I look forward to what October’s Comic Con has in store for me along with what this year’s London Film and Comic Con is going to be like July.

Until Next Time.

New Year’s Resolutions

I guess it is time to welcome everyone to what is to be the start of a New Year and unlike last year it has two digits that makes up a number that not everyone likes and believes is unlucky, welcome to 2013.

Now if you have been read any of my blog’s since I started then I hope you have learned at least two things, one being that I am not superstitious person and two you have the power to create and choice what type of year you are going to have.

What I mean by this is that you have the ability to choice if you are going to have a good year or not and that if you spend the next year believing something is going to go wrong then you are more likely to make that come true. So let’s forget that we have a thirteen in the year and start making this year like the years before or better and if something does go wrong pick yourself up and move on.

Now there is always one thing that everyone tries to do before the New Year and then attempt them at the beginning of the year and those are called New Year’s Resolutions. Now I will be the first to admit that in the last two years I have done very badly and I have forgotten about them after about a month or two but this year I hope to us my blog as away to keep them going.

The way in which I want to do this is that I am going to set myself some goals for this blog, an example of this would be to create two blogs a month. Once I have laid out what I want from this blog I will then talk about my New Year’s Resolutions and how I will achieve them and keep a log of my process though out the year.

This blog well be staying the same as it always has but the only difference is that the blogs will have some form of structure to it unlike before. A good example of this would be that I may take a few weeks to go over a topic that has a lot of information in it or is very important to me. I am also hoping to at least cover a minimum of three topics a month with at least one of those being a look back at my progress so far with my New Year’s resolutions.

The last time that I took a New Year’s Resolutions seriously was back in 2010 and to the most part I did very well with them even with everything that happened to me that year. The last two years I have started them but somewhere along the line I just stopped because I believed that I wasn’t going complete them but this time round I will go in trying to succeed as best as possible.

The first one on my list is one that everyone goes for each year and each year we all give up or get nowhere close so my plan is to set myself a weight goal that I want to reach. As you could have guessed my first New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight but I want to weight as close too or less than 170 pounds, I should also point out that before Christmas I weighted in at 200 pounds but with Christmas comes weight gain so I have a feeling that I now weight more than I did before Christmas.

My next New Year’s Resolution is something that I bought up in last week’s blog when I spoke about films, I have always been a fan of films but last year I saw less new released films than I have ever seen in previous years so my action plan is to watch at least one new released film each month.

So what should my next resolution be? Well the next one is going to be a personal one but as my blog will be heading in this direction soon and it has been a topic that I have touch on once or twice before so I should at least try and work on it. I know that I need to work on my own relationship more than I have in the past year. Before anyone says that it takes two to tango I should point out that some of what I want to cover I don’t do or I don’t do very well so if I want to preach about something I need to be at least be doing it or have experienced it.

The last two that I have in mind are ones that have been nagging at me for some time. One of them is to complete the editing that I started last year on my book and to start getting the ball rolling on trying to get it published. The last one is to play and complete Final Fantasy VII, the reason that this is on my list is due to the fact that everyone I know and everyone on the internet says that this game is one of the best of all time but back when I it was released and became very popular I did everything that I could to stay clear of it (a bit like the Assassin Creed which I am playing and enjoying at the moment.)

So there you have it, those are my New Year’s Resolutions for this year and what I have planned for my blog too. I hope that you all have had a good New Year so far and if you have any New Year’s Resolutions that you wish to share with me then place them in comments.

Until next time

How could you not notice your makeup

Today I will be looking at something that for many years I have been trying to get my head round and from the title of this blog you might already know what I am going to be talking about.

Now I will be honesty and say that I don’t really know much about woman’s make up but I do have a belief that woman use makeup to enhance features and hide parts that they don’t like. Now if everyone took that information to heart then you could say that no one could go wrong when using makeup but that is where you are wrong because some women insist on placing too much on their faces and in the process making themselves look worse. (I do know that when it comes to Television and film you need to put more on but I will get to that in time).

Now what I mean by placing too much makeup on is when you look at someone and you can actually see all the makeup on their face, a good example that I would use is if you have ever seen the makeup advert that uses a golf ball and they cover it in foundation so that it turns into a pink ball. Now if I saw a woman walking down the street with that much makeup on I would start asking the question to myself about what she could be hiding under all that makeup. Now I do know that if you are working on camera you do have to wear a lot of makeup mainly because the bright lights that will strip away a lot of that persons features, so by wearing a lot of makeup you enhance their original features and make those watching see that persons face more clearly but I don’t see how this will help in real life.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying that women shouldn’t wear makeup all I am saying is that women should sometime think really hard about what they are trying to hide and enhance because if you don’t do it right you could end up being misinterpreting yourself.

 Until next time.

The Amazing Spider-Man

I should make a point here that there is a very high chance that this blog will contain spoilers from all of the Spider-Man films, so you have been warned.

Back in 2002 when Spider-Man first appear on our screen I discovered that I enjoyed this film and was looking forward to what the series would do next. The second film in the series took what the first film did well and made it better but unfortunately when the third Spider-Man premiered everything changed for me, I can still remember to this day how bored I was seating in the cinema watching this film play out.

The reason that I didn't like this film was because the story was too long winded, badly written and the acting just wasn't there as if it was forced. Once the film finished I said to myself that there was no way in which I would watch another Spider-Man sequel again because I didn't want to waste another three hours of my life again (even though I still do it with some films.

When I heard that they were rebooting Spider-Man series I wasn't going to hold my breath mainly because I had lost interest in the character as a whole and I also believed that it would be a disappoint but was I wrong.

As a whole the film was brilliant and like all films there are some parts that could have been done better to make the film even better. For me the pacing of the film could have been a bit better and the two examples of this would be right at the beginning and near the end of the film. The parts that I am talking about at the beginning is where it took so long to set up who Peter Parker was and how different he was from everyone. The same think is true at the end of the film where Peter got shot and make such to reinforce it but in the end it amount to nothing, all I will say is if you are going to spend time on reinforcing something then at least us it.

Apart from those two problems I really enjoyed the film and would recommend it to anyone.

Until next time.
